The 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), known as D&D Next during playtesting, is the most recent version of D&D. 5th edition began playtesting in 2012, and launched in the Summer of 2014 (over 175,000 playtesters by the end). The core setting for 5th Edition is the Forgotten Realms after the Spellplague, but there is support for other campaign settings like Eberron, Greyhawk, and Ravenloft. There is mention of the Dark Sun, Dragonlance, and Mystara campaign settings, but there is currently no official support for these setting in fifth edition.
Since its release, there has been numerous adventures and supplements to add new options for Dungeon Masters and players alike.
