The Book of Vile Darkness is a Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition rules supplement published in December 2011.

This 134-paged book is split into two sections that offer new options for both Dungeon Masters and players for running evil campaigns. The players can create evil-aligned characters using the new themes, feats, paragon paths, and epic destiny, Exemplar of Evil. For Dungeon Masters, this book implores you to study evil through rules that aid in developing evil campaigns, vile encounters, villains, vile monster themes, new evil monsters, and evil/cursed magic items for adventurers.

Player Options[]

The supplement provided one of the rarer benefits of this edition's books being both beneficial for Dungeon Masters and players. For games where the players are playing evil-aligned characters or have an evil tenancies, this book allowed to explore some evil options.
