Dragon magazine is a monthly publication featuring articles of interest to Dungeons & Dragons players. Its companion publication for Dungeon Masters is Dungeon magazine.
Dragon articles present new material and content, such as character concepts, backgrounds, magic items, feats and powers, paragon paths and epic destinies, optional rules, and advice for players.
Publication history[]
4th edition[]
Through 2007, Dragon was a print magazine. It went on hiatus just prior to the release of 4th edition. In June 2008, Wizards of the Coast resumed publishing Dragon in-house as a digital download in PDF format, with an emphasis on 4th edition gameplay.
The first four issues of this format, #364 through #367, were published on WotC's website free of charge. Starting with issue #368, full issues were only available to D&D Insider subscribers.
In September 2009, fourteen articles from Dragon #364 through #373 were reprinted in the Dragon Magazine Annual compilation.
The December 2013 issue, #430, was the final issue in this format. Dragon was again on hiatus until the release of the 5th edition of D&D in summer 2014.

The magazine featured various reoccurring series of articles on various subjects, like new magic items, new class abilities, or locations and organizations to be used in D&D games.

A series of articles revolving around the gods of the Points of Light setting as well as a selected number from the Forgotten Realms setting. Successor column of Deities & Demigods.

Confessions of a Full-time Wizard[]
Confessions of a Full-time Wizard is a series of Dragon Magazine editorials written by Shelly Mazzanoble. It generally focuses on the social aspect of D&D as opposed to rules or mechanical implementation.

A series of shared articles between Dragon and Dungeon magazine revolving around the gods of the Points of Light setting. Was replaced by the column Channel Divinity.
