The June 2008 update was published by Wizards of the Coast to revise the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual. It was the first update to the 4th edition rulebooks, and is also known as version 1 of the update document. The update was published on June 10, 2008, four days after the initial three rulebooks had been published.

Player's Handbook revisions[]

Revisions to the Player's Handbook in the June 2008 update included:

  • clarifying that the half-elf Dilettante and human Bonus At-Will Power racial traits only applied to 1st-level at-will attack powers
  • clarifying that the fighter Combat Challenge class feature grants a triggered melee basic attack only against enemies marked by the fighter, and not marked by a different character
  • clarifying that the fighter power cleave deals its additional damage to a creature other than the target
  • correcting the wizard class skill list to reflect that Nature has Wisdom, not Intelligence, as its key ability
  • reducing the DCs of Insight checks and Thievery checks to pick pocket
  • limiting the duration of Warrior of the Wild's quarry effect to one turn

Dungeon Master's Guide revisions[]

The June 2008 update added the healing keyword to the Invulnerable Coat of Arnd's encounter power allowing its wearer to spend a healing surge as a minor action. The update also reduced the guideline for elite monster hit points to twice the hit points of a standard monster.

Monster Manual revisions[]

The June 2008 update changed auras to no longer affect creatures until the end of their next turn. It increased attack damage on cave bears, evistros, death giants, hill giants, ogre savages, gelatinous cubes, and aspects of Orcus. It modified other stats on imps, pseudodragons, drow warriors, efreet karadjin, goblin underbosses, oni night haunters, and shadar-kai gloomblades.
