The Rules Compendium is a 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons rulebook published in September 2010. It is part of the Essentials line of rulebooks.
Although the Rules Compendium includes basic rules for playing the game, it does not contain detailed rules about character creation or advancement, such as races, classes, feats, and the like. That material can be found in other rulebooks, for example, the Essentials rulebooks Heroes of the Fallen Lands and Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms.

Jeremy Crawford led the Rules Compendium game design and compilation. Rob Heinsoo, Andy Collins, and James Wyatt are also credited for the original 4th edition design. Mike May is the front cover illustrator.
