Sohei is a character theme, flavored as a warrior priest who is concerned with the safety of a temple. They are sometimes called yamabushi, meaning "mountain warrior" since their monasteries are often located in mountainous regions. These locations and sohei can be found in Kara-Tur as well as the west.[Dr404]

Anyone can take up the sohei theme, but usually they have a religious aspect to them that pushes them into adventuring. Many classes are compatible with sohei flavor, commonly those who explore the supernatural, like classes with shadow, divine, or arcane power sources.
