A dwarven innovation, spiked plate is a suit of plate mail studded with sharp, metal spikes. The dwarves developed this armor to deal with subterranean beasts such as hook horrors and umber hulks that grasp and crush their prey.

It is heavy armor, and requires Armor Proficiency: Spiked Plate [MME:11] to use properly.

  • AC Bonus: +8. Magic armor AC bonus is identical to Plate mail.

  • Special: Barbed - A creature takes damage equal to 2 + half your level when you escape that creature's grab or when that creature escapes your grab. (Does not stack with the Barbed special property from an equipped Barbed Shield. [MME:8] )
