"Ancient rhythms, endlessly refreshed. This blade cuts like a poem."[PH2:80]

Summer rhymers are cunning bards who seek to evoke the power of the Feywild and the Summer Queen's lively spirit. Summer rhymers claim a deep connection to the power of the mystical Plane of Faerie, seeking to earn the blessing of the Summer Fey, reflecting the power of the fey in their own training, be it through teleportation or the life-enhancing powers of the Feywild.[1]

Culture[]

Tiandra the Summer Queen is among the most powerful archfey of the Feywild, full of lifegiving power and surrounded by unearthly beauty. A powerful arcane spellcaster, Tiandra's approval is sought by many and among the few who actually receive it are the summer rhymers. Not all summer rhymers begin their path with the Queen's blessing, but all seek it and likely obtain it before their training is done. Touched by the power of the fey, summer rhymers have a long tradition of service to the Summer Fey, using their musical talents as bards to spread the influence and power of the Feywild throughout the world.[1]

For their efforts, some summer rhymers actually obtain the favor of the Summer Queen, and with it other rewards. Tales are told of heroes who received titles of nobility within Tiandra's court or magical items as a reward for faithful servants. However, while serving the fey can be rewarding, it is also dangerous, and few gifts from the world of the fey come without a hidden price tag.[1]

Abilities[]

Summer rhymers use their connection to the Feywild to obtain several unusual abilities. Even early along the path of the Summer Fey, summer rhymers learn to teleport, as many fey do regularly, sometimes on the spur of the moment, taking an ally with them roughly twenty-five feet or less. The life-enhancing properties of the Feywild also enhance the summer rhymers, making them better healers than most bards to a degree partially dependent on their strength of personality, a quality fey admire. The fey also lend an aiding hand to a bard's natural abilities, enhancing the effectiveness of a summer rhymer's attacks against their chosen foe.[1]

A summer rhymer's spells reflect the majesty and mystery of the Feywild. Song of the spiral paths is a relatively simple spell that makes the boundary between the Prime and the Feywild weaker, allowing summer rhymers and their allies to teleport from one spot to another with relative ease. Another spell, song of the high court, warding a summer rhymer and their allies with the positive energy of the Feywild.[1]
