Witch is a subclass of Wizard introduced to fourth edition through Heroes of the Feywild. [1]

Creating a Witch[]

A Witch is similar to a Wizard but lacks some features. Those being Arcane Implement Mastery, Ritual Spellcasting, and Spellbook. A witch instead has features called Witch's Familiar, Moon Coven, and augery.

Hit Points[]

  • 10+Constitution Score. 4 each level up.

Armor Proficiency[]

  • Cloth

Implement Proficiencies[]

  • Orbs
  • Staffs
  • Wands

Class Features[]

  • Witch's Familiar: Similar to a Warlock a Witch's powers are granted by a powerful patron such as an archfey, a god, a devil, an angel, or demon. A Witch may or may not be aware of their patron's true identity and will more often or not refer to them in terms uncommon. Witchs of Sehanine for example call her simply 'The Goddess' leading those outside their covens to speculate. This is because a Witch's Familiar acts as intermediary between the Witch and their patron. The familiar is bound to the Witch's soul and provides instruction and guidance in the use of their supernatural powers. Each has a unique personality and may provide hints or bits of useful lore. Players may place focus on or diminish the role of their familiar however they please, even consigning them to the role of a subtle background presences should they wish. Mechanically this feature provides the Arcane Familiar feat and utility. At the end of an extended rest a Witch may confer with their familiar to replace one daily or utility power with another should they share the same level. At level twenty four one may spend an action point to regain an encounter power. Doing so will provide the Witch with an advantage against every target should the encounter power be used during the current encounter.
  • Witch's Cantrips: Three cantrips of the player's choice from the arcane spell list.
  • Moon Coven: Dark Moon or Full Moon Coven. Dark Moon provides the Dread Presence Power while Full Moon Coven provides the Glorious Presence Power.
  • Augery: A utility power allowing one to ask a question and get a vague answer about the future.
