Wizards of the Coast LLC (WotC or WOTC) is an American game publisher and is a subsidiary of the toy and board game company Hasbro. Their headquarters is located in Renton, WA. Wizards of the Coast products include card games (Duel Masters Trading Card Game, Magic: the Gathering, Pokémon Trading Card Game (December 1998 - July 2003) and tabletop roleplaying games (Dungeons & Dragons).
Wizards of the Coast acquired the Dungeons & Dragons franchise in 1997 when it acquired the game's original publisher TSR, Inc. The company began publishing the third edition of Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks back in 2000, and the 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks in 2008. The company conducted a public playtest for the current iteration of Dungeons & Dragons, now formally known as 5th edition, starting in 2012, then began publishing rulebooks for 5th edition on September 30, 2014.
