The Zadatl is a superior two-handed melee weapon, introduced in Dragon Magazine article Monster Hunters of Athas.[Dr391:9] This weapon was meant for the Dark Sun setting, and seems to be introduced in 4e. Based on its description, it is reminescent of a mancatcher.
Description: Also known as the pincer staff, this Draji polearm was developed to grab and control targets that might be captured for later sacrifice. It consists of a long haft with a crossbar at the end with two pincerlike tines attached. The pincers are often actual mandible pieces from giant insects.
Proficiency with the Zadatl is a prerequisite for the following feats. Unlike similar feats for other weapons, these are not multiclass feats.
- Zadatl Novice (and Zadatl Grab power)
- Zadatl Expert (and Zadatl Expert Stance power)
- Zadatl Specialist (and Zadatl Control power)
